For a few minutes lets think of ourselves as our own personal cake.  In this lifetime, we are perfecting our secret recipe, kind of like for the Betty Crocker bake off.  We can add and subtract new ingredients as we go along, trying different flours, spices, and gooey things like marshmallows and such. We are continually in process, either mixing it up or baking it.
Sometimes it gets a little wild when we get a new wave of energy, and the mixer gets turned up from stir to beat or even whip, and our batter gets thrown all over the place, by accident or design, then we have to be scraped up and thrown back in the mixing bowl, and pray that the speed gets turned down soon.
What type of cake are you?  Some people are like an angelfood cake, white and light and airy, do they seem to go through life effortlessly once they have been baked? The mixing can be a little bit tricky for them, though, gotta make sure the cream of tartar is very fresh for them so that they rise properly.  Some even add bits of fruit to their cake, like an Italian panettone.  I think of myself as a devils food cake, rich and dense, passionate and driven, you have to be ready for some major chocolate for this one.
The baking phase can be one of waiting, cultivating patience, hoping that the correct temperature has been set and that the oven is functioning properly.  Also during this phase most people , if they haven’t chosen it already, begin to consider what type of frosting will go best with their cake.  Perhaps the cooling phase is where we wait  to manifest the perfect frosting, we must wait for spirit to send to us the right and perfect one, it can get tedious, remembering that old adage “He that can have patience can have what he will”. Plus, the cake is just not complete without the frosting or icing, and of course, frosting is no good without the cake.
If the cake is your own self, then the frosting must be your romantic  relationship.  How sweet!  Of course, frosting comes in all forms, cream cheese, fondant, 7 minute, whipped cream with berries, icing, powdered sugar, etc.  I feel like my frosting is more like chocolate fudge on my cake. Of course, the timing of the arrival for the frosting must be right, too, the cake must be baked and cooled properly before the frosting is put on it.  I feel that with all our healing and spiritual work, we are perfecting our recipes, and that romantic relationships are, indeed the frosting on our cake.  Frosting and cake work well together, creating a sumptuous combination in our lives.  Every bite is a complete joy.
What flavor is your cake?
